Masako Fujita Awarded with RAU Certificate of Gratitude
On October 22, Masako Fujita was awarded with a certificate of gratitude of Russian-Armenian University for her significant contribution to the instruction of the Japanese language in Armenia.
“We thank you for your contribution to the instruction of Japanese in Armenia. At Russian-Armenian University, students learn not only the language itself but also the culture and economic system of Japan. And you played a huge role by preparing excellent teachers, including Karine Karamyan,” said RAU Rector Professor Armen Darbinyan when presenting the certificate.
Masako Fujita, now 85 and retired, taught several generations of Japanese language instructors, including some of those who now teach at RAU. Among them are Ruzanna Khojikyan, Founder of the Iroha Center in Yerevan, and Karine Karamyan, one of the first instructors of Japanese in Armenia.
“It is an honor for me to be at RAU today. I am glad to be back in Armenia after a long time and to visit Karine sensei”, highlighted Masako Fujita.
