RAU Improves its Position in QS EECA Top University Rankings

Russian-Armenian University (RAU) increased its position by 50 places in the QS EECA (Emerging Europe and Central Asia) University Rankings 2019, thus advancing to the TOP 200 universities in the region.

The ranking includes the best universities from 24 countries in Eastern and Southern Europe, Central Asia, South Caucasus and the Baltic states. Among over 3000 universities in the Emerging Europe and Central Asia region, the QS EECA University Rankings highlights only TOP 300 universities.

The methodology for the EECA 2019 ranking was compiled using 9 indicators, academic (30%) and employer (20%) reputation, student to faculty ratio (10%), citations per papers (5%), staff with PhD (5%), international faculty and international students (each 2,5%) etc. The results are displayed in an interactive table, which enables universities to compare across indicators.

The most impactful indicator is academic reputation that gathers information through QS Global Academic Survey from academics from all over the world. Alongside the academic survey, the employer reputation survey asks graduate employers internationally to name the institutions they believe to be producing the best graduates in their sector to determine the intuitional reputation in the global graduate employment market.

Russian-Armenian University continuously excels regarding the international students indicator, ranking in the TOP 10. The position validates the extensive efforts demonstrated by RAU to attract young people from the Armenian diaspora back, and the potential to further engage international students to Armenia.

Armenia entered the ranking QS EECA University Rankings for the first time last year and was represented by two universities – Russian-Armenian University and Yerevan State University. This year’s ranking includes three universities from Armenia, RAU, YSU and AUA, with Russian-Armenian University being the second in the country.

In the 2019 edition, Lomonosov Moscow State University remains QS EECA’s highest-ranked university.

First published in 2004, QS World University Rankings is recognized as one of the most-widely read rankings in the world, comprising global overall and subject rankings.
