Russian Language Scholars Discuss Recent Research Results in Russian Studies at RAU
On September 26-27, Russian-Armenian University hosted the IV International Research Conference The Russian Language at Crossroads of Times: Traditions and Innovations in Russian Studies, organized by RAU Department of Russian Language and Professional Communication.
“We are happy that Russian-Armenian University has become a major center of the Russian language, a center that serves as a platform for scholars to discuss the latest issues in Russian studies”, highlighted RAU Rector A. Darbinyan in his welcoming speech.
The scientific event gathered 133 researchers and Russian language instructors from 15 countries, Armenia, Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, the U.S., Germany, Vietnam, Finland, China, Israel, Italy, etc. During the 7 sessions of the conference, the participants discussed various issues related to theory of language, current issues in Russian Studies, teaching methodology, the latest technologies in teaching, comparative typology, etc.
“Russian-Armenian University is hosting this conference for the fourth time, gathering scholars of the Russian language to exchange ideas, discuss recent research results concerning language teaching, language theory and practical aspects of translation”, said Associate Prof. Karen Hakobyan, Head of RAU Department of Russian Language and Professional Communication.
The conference’s guest Ekaterina Protasova, Lecturer at the University of Helsinki, delivered a public lecture on bilingualism in young children and the Russian language in the world.
The conference The Russian Language at Crossroads of Times: Traditions and Innovations in Russian Studies aimed at strengthening the international links between academia in the field and providing a platform for exchange of innovative ideas in research and methodology related to Russian Philology.
