Independence Cup - 28: RAU Hosted the Annual IT Olympiad
On October 22, the winners of the annual IT Olympiad for university and school students “Independence Cup – 28” were announced.
Russian-Armenian University hosted the annual IT Olympiad for university and school students “Independence Cup – 28” on October 21. The contest was confined to the 28th anniversary of the Armenian Independence.
The competition gathered students from the leading Armenian universities and schools with strong IT programs Yerevan State University, National Polytechnic University of Armenia, American University of Armenia, Armenian State Pedagogical University named after Khachatur Abovian, National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia, Russian-Armenian University, Physics and Mathematics Specialized School named after Artashes Shahinyan, «Shirakatsy Lyceum» International Scientific-Educational Complex», Quantum College.
Overall, there were 30 teams participating in the Olympiad. The winners were the following: 1st prize YSU, 2nd prize Quantum College, 3rd prize YSU, 4th prize RAU. The first 6 teams were awarded with prize money and certificates.
“To pass complex tests and interviews at leading IT companies and become a top-notch software developer/engineer, a student needs to thoroughly study math disciplines. Winners of IT Olympiads have a huge advantage here. All of our graduates who now work at companies like Google and Facebook have been winners of IT Olympiads,” highlighted Programming Teams Manager Associate Professor at RAU Department of Mathematical Cybernetics Tigran Piliposyan.
The Olympiad was organized jointly by Russian-Armenian University, Enterprise Incubator Foundation (EIF) and One Market Data Armenia (OMD).
The IT Olympiad "Independence Cup" has been taking place at Russian-Armenian University annually since 2011.
