IV International Research Forum on National Security Issues Took Place at RAU
On November 15-16, the IV International Research Forum “National Security Issues in the Context of Globalization and Integration Processes (Interdisciplinary Aspects)” took place at Russian-Armenian University. The IV Forum’s central theme was States’ Development Strategies in the age of Global and Regional Confrontation.
During the opening session, RAU Vice-Rector for Science, Prof. Pargev Avetisyan, greeted the guests and participants of the Forum, mentioning that the issue of balancing the global and regional security, as well as layering of security elements is a complicated matter that needs to be thoroughly reseached.
In his turn, Head of RAU Department of Political Science Associate Prof. Hovhannes Sargsyan highlighted that the issue of identity is closely related to security, “This conference is held primarily for our students, for youth, as we need them to be actively engaged in these matters, to communicate with experts and exchange ideas”.
Embracing several sessions, expert panel discussions on security and identity issues, a youth panel on national security and expert master classes, the two-day research event attracted leading experts in the field of political science, international relations and economics, representatives of Center for Post-Soviet studies after Primakov, MGIMO University and Diplomatic Academy of Russian Foreign Ministry, YSU, AUA, ORBELI Analytical Research Center, RAU professors, researchers and students. They payed special attention to the analysis of the regional security in the South Caucasus, issues of regional identity and civic consciousness, as well as regional integration in the Eurasia.
The IV International Research Forum “National Security Issues in the Context of Globalization and Integration Processes (Interdisciplinary Aspects)” was organized jointly by the Department of Political Science at Russian-Armenian University, Laboratory for Strategic Research on National Security Issues through the support of the Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Fund.
