The Stefan Banach Scholarship Program aims to support the socio-economic growth of developing countries by improving the knowledge and education of the citizens of Eastern Partnership, Central Asian and Western Balkan countries. It is a joint initiative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA), implemented as part of the Polish development assistance program.
The Scholarship offer is addressed to the citizens of countries identified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as having priority status for the Program: Belarus, Ukraine, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, as well as the following Western Balkan countries: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Kosovo, North Macedonia and Serbia.
Scope of activities
The scholarship enables to undertake studies at universities in Poland and covers 1-month language and adaptation course with a scholarship or a 1-year preparatory course with a scholarship, preceding the studies.. The costs of the courses and scholarships during the course will also be covered by NAWA.
NAWA Director’s scholarship is granted for the duration of the preparatory course and for the regulatory period of studies with an exemption from education fees at public universities. A monthly maintenance scholarship from the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange to cover the costs of accommodation and living. The scholarship is paid for a maximum of 12 months in the academic year once a month through the higher education institution.

Deadline for submitting applications
The call for applications shall be held from 6 March until 30 April 2019, 3 pm Central European Time (Warsaw local time), solely in an electronic form via NAWA’s ICT system, available one the www.nawa.gov.pl website.
Announcement of ranking lists will be published by 12 August 2019.
