Department of Political Science
The Department of Political Science was formed in 2002. Since then, our goal has been to prepare undergraduate students majoring in political science who possess a broad outlook, fundamental theoretical knowledge of political reality, creative thinking and analytical skills.
A key part of our activity is to train the future generation of politicians, political analysts, policy advisers, political science and social science teachers, political technologists.
The Department aims at delivering fundamental theoretical knowledge. However, the knowledge is not an end in the educational process, but a means. In modern science, theoretical knowledge is focused on the practical application. Social Sciences and Humanities reflect social reality not only in abstract form, revealing the general laws, but they also have a huge potential to change the reality. Therefore, it is necessary to be guided by the following scheme in modern political education: political theory (theoretical models) → political technologies → practical changes in political reality.
In this respect, the transition from empirical and descriptive thinking to creative mind developing is crucial. The purpose of the learning process is not to present students with factual information but to help them to build professional thinking and behavior in simulated situations.
