About
RAU Department of Russian Language was founded in 2000. Originally, established as a Department of Russian Language and Literature, it was later transformed into Department of Russian Language and Professional Communication to provide a more efficient focus on Russian language instruction.  
 
The main goal of the Department is to develop an effective educational methodology aimed, on the one hand, to develop and improve methods of teaching the Russian language through the values ​​of Russian culture, and on the other hand, the comprehension of Russian national culture through the Russian language.
 
International Cooperation
The Department of Russian Language and Professional Communication actively collaborates with leading Russian universities, namely with Moscow State University, Pushkin State Russian Language Institute, RUDN University, and others. The Department regularly conducts scientific and methodological seminars and roundtable discussions in Russian Philology.

Master’s: Teaching Russian as a Foreign Language. Linguoculturology; Translation Studies
 
Professional activity of Masters is carried out in the field of philology and language, humanities, cross-cultural communication, education, culture and management:
 
  • research in scientific and educational institutions, organizations and subdivisions;
  • teaching activity in the system of general secondary and professional education and higher education;
  • applied linguistic practice (translation, editorial, expert), in educational, cultural, management, mass media institutions; also in the field of sociocultural communication and other areas of social and humanitarian knowledge;
  • project activities in educational and cultural institutions, literary and art museums; in social-pedagogical, humanitarian-organizational, publishing, mass-media and communication fields;
  • management in all the above areas.
 
Research
The Department of Russian Language and Professional Communication conducts research in a wide range of issues in contemporary philological studies. Our research areas include:
  • actual problems of studying Russian Language and Culture;
  • methodology of teaching Russian Language (both native and foreign);
  • modern information technologies in teaching and research of Russian Language and Culture;
  • contrastive-comparative and typological language learning;
  • linguistic pragmatics and communicative linguistics;
  • modern testology: techniques and procedures for Russian language skills testing.
