Armenian Women as Authors and Women’s Writing in Contemporary Armenian Literature
Russian-Armenian University, October 16-17, 2020
We enthusiastically invite scholars and graduate students investigating different aspects of women’s literary creativity to present the results of their recent research at a conference to be held under the aegis of the Russian-Armenian University and UCLA. We particular encourage work that interrogates conventional presuppositions (e.g. the narrow classification of literature by the language in which it is written) and traditional discourses (e.g. by exploring the characteristics and parameters of the concepts of women’s writing and women’s voice in literature). Research papers are accepted on all related humanities and social-science disciplines, including, but not limited to: linguistics, comparative literature, history, sociology and anthropology.
We encourage comparative themes and interdisciplinary approaches. The official languages of the conference are Armenian, English and Russian.
Applicants should submit abstracts of no more than 250 words and their curriculum vitae by 1 September, 2020 to the dedicated e-mail address email@example.com. Abstracts should provide a brief description of the work, clearly outlining the theoretical perspectives and methodology to be applied in the paper and specifying any audiovisual facilities required.
Participants will be allotted twenty minutes to present their papers. An online publication of the conference proceedings is proposed by year’s end.
The organizing committee is planning to arrange three nights accommodation for paper presenters from out of town. It is requested that participants make their own round-trip travel arrangements. Limited travel grants are available to assist those who might otherwise be unable to attend.
