'Armenia in the Context of EU-EAEU Relations Development Prospects' Summer School
RAU Department of Political Science jointly with RA State Committee of Science hosted a Summer School ‘Armenia in the Context of EU-EAEU Relations Development Prospects’, which took place on July 16-19.
“Increasingly often we hear that the European Union and the Eurasian Economic Union need to build bridges and start cooperating. In this context, we consider Armenia’s experience unique, because Armenia is the only state in the EAEU to have a partnership agreement with the EU”, said Head of the Department of Political Science Associate Professor Hovhannes Sargsyan in his welcome address.
The School gathered undergraduate and graduate students from RAU, Armenian State Economic University, American University of Armenia, Yerevan Brusov State University of Languages and Social Sciences, Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration, Lviv National University and Moscow State Linguistic University. The event included both academic and applied components. The participating students were divided into four groups to work on their proposals.
The Summer School provided a platform for relevant discussions with leading experts in the field - Hrant Mikaelyan, Caucasus Institute researcher, Alexey Sandykov MP of RA National Assembly, member of the Standing Committee on Regional and Eurasian Integration, Norayr Dunamalyan, Ph.D., senior lecturer at RAU Department of Political Science, Narek Galstyan, YSU Associate Professor, UN expert on energy issues in Armenia, Yuri Kofner, Head of the Eurasian sector, CCEIS, Higher School of Economics, Alexander Gevorkyan, Associate Professor of St. Johns University in New York, political scientist Emil Ordukhanyan and others.
The participants together with the mentors examined various aspects of Eurasian integration, discussed new approaches to research and understanding of the Eurasian integration, development prospects between the European Union and the Eurasian Economic Union, including in digital economy and energy.
Upon completion, the participants of the ‘Armenia in the Context of EU-EAEU Relations Development Prospects’ Summer School received certificates of participation and proceedings of the conference ‘National Security Issues in the Context of Globalization and Integration’.
