Armenian Elsevier Day Forum 'Collaboration Opportunities in Science and Tech to Ensure Armenia’s Economic Growth'
 
On October 8, Russian-Armenian University hosted the Armenian Elsevier Day Forum 'Collaboration Opportunities in Science and Tech to Ensure Armenia’s Economic Growth'.
 
The Forum participants addressed the current status and prospects of unlocking the potential available in the field of education and science in the Republic of Armenia, as well as challenges occurring when shaping a high-tech economy.
 
It gathered scholars, lecturers and Ph.D. students from academic institutions and representatives of the Armenian tech sector.
 
RAU Vice-Rector for Science, Professor Pargev Avetisyan, greeted the guests and participants, highlighting, “This event is of high importance for Russian-Armenian University and the Armenian academia as a whole. The academic community of RAU has great resources for research collaborations.” He mentioned that Armenia hasn’t yet established a solid foundation to implement research results in economics, various industries, etc. However, Armenia has set to become a major technological center, which involves not only IT, but also biotechnology.
 
Regional Director of Elsevier Sergey Revyakin in his turn mentioned that in order to establish effective collaboration of science and technology, the fields need state support. He then presented Elsevier’s activities in more detail, results of analysis of the quantity and quality of scientific publications, publication policy strategies and a competitive analysis of academic instituions.
 
According to the SciVal analytical tool designed by Elsevier, Russian-Armenian University ranks in the TOP 5 leading Universities in Armenia in terms of research activity.
 
The event was organized jointly by Russian-Armenian University and Elsevier.
 
Founded in 1880 in the Netherlands, Elsevier is an information and analytics company and one of the world's major providers of scientific, technical, and medical information. Its products include journals such as The Lancet and Cell, the ScienceDirect collection of electronic journals, the Trends and Current Opinion series of journals, the online citation database Scopus, and the ClinicalKey solution for clinicians.
