Everything is Possible, the Impossible Just Takes More Time:
Johan Ernst Nilson
On September 19, Russian-Armenian University hosted Johan Ernst Nilson, a famous environmental awareness activist, motivational speaker, Ambassador for the International Union for Conservation of Nature. During a meet-and-greet with the students, Johan shared inspiring stories about his various expeditions, told about his environmental actions and beliefs.
Since 1994, he has managed to go on over 30 expeditions in 160 countries.
The first one was a challenge, after a bet with a friend he started biking from Stockholm to Sahara Desert - could a guy with the lowest grade in gymnastics and the worst football player in school bike across Europe? “I was so stubborn that I took a bicycle and hit the road. 52 days later I was in Sahara. Every day I wanted to go back, but every day I said to myself “just one more day””. Since then, he has been setting new goals, new challenges and new adventures constantly.
Johan seeks to help people do the unexpected and step outside their comfort zone as a coach and motivational speaker. He gives lectures on taking risks, building motivation, going from dreams to reality and goals all over the world.
“To reach difficult goals in life, you need to take risks, to push your limits. It doesn't come for free, but it's worth it. I like to elaborate with the word impossible, really, it is just a word we've invented, explaining that we don't know how something works. I say everything is possible, the impossible just takes more time”, highlighted Johan.
Along with his expeditions, Johan ardently advocates for the environment. He calls himself 'Environmental Explorer', believing that we need to think of the environment in everything we do, “When I climbed Mount Everest in 2007, I saw how much garbage lay there. So, I gathered 200 people in three years to go back and clean up; during the cleanup we collected 15,000 kg of garbage!”
Johan Ernst Nilson was invited to Armenia on the initiative of Armenian Assembly Board Members Mr. Vahe Yengibaryan and Mr. Nikolay Sarkisov.
Johan Ernst Nilson is one of world's most famous explorers and motivational speakers with over 30 expeditions in 160 countries, the longest of which, Pole2Pole, took him from the South Pole to the North Pole and lasted for 18 months. A personal coach to leaders all over the world, he has given lectures to 100s of companies on all seven continents.
