Head of RAU Chinese Language and Culture Center at International Conference on Chinese Studies
Ms. Naira Grigoryan, Head of RAU Chinese Language and Culture Center, participated in the I International Conference The Chinese Language: Current Issues of Linguistics, Translation Studies and Language Teaching at Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO).
The Conference gathered more than 70 leading scholars in Chinese studies from all over the world. The Conference gave them an opportunity to exchange their latest research findings, establish international cooperation in science and education, expand scientific relations among leading universities and research institutions in the field.
Ms. Naira Grigoryan presented two research reports “Compilation of Modern Textbooks of Chinese in Armenian: the Transliteration System” and “Cultural and National Features of Lacunar Phraseological Units and the Issues of Their Translation via the Example of Three Languages”. Her presentation highlighted some of the research results of Armenian scholars and sparked a lot of interest among the colleagues.
“Both RAU and MGIMO, actively cooperate with China and develop partnerships with Chinese universities. Despite being a young university, RAU maintains high-level teaching and research activity, whereas at other universities Chinese has been taught for decades. RAU alumni are very much demanded on the job market, they work as translators and advisers in various Armenian-Chinese companies, teach Chinese in schools and take up international positions”, said Ms. Naira Grigoryan.
The I International Conference The Chinese Language: Current Issues of Linguistics, Translation Studies and Language Teaching was organized by MGIMO Department of Chinese, Vietnamese, Laotian and Thai Languages through the support of MGIMO Development Fund, Russian-Chinese committee of friendship, peace and development.
