Russian-Armenian University Hosted ISOP 2019
On July 1-7, Russian-Armenian University hosted International School on Optics and Photonics ISOP 2019. The event was organized by RAU OSA Student Chapter through the support of RAU Department of General Physics and Quantum Nanostructures and RAU & NAS SPIE Student Chapter.
At the School opening, RAU Scientific Adviser Professor Eduard Kazaryan wished everyone a productive and week, highlighting that the tradition of summer schools for young physicist goes back decades.
ISOP’s co-organizer, Head of RAU Department of General Physics and Quantum Nanostructures Associate Prof. David Hayrapetyan mentioned that the summer school aimed at giving not only professional knowledge in physics, but also at helping the students enhance soft skills.
The School's honored guest was Professor Sotirios Baskoutas from the University of Patras, Greece, who delivered lectures for the students.
The ISOP school offered a fruitful week of lectures, practical workshops, success stories and student competition. The participants had the chance to develop professionally, network, boost their skills in making successful presentations, writing papers for scientific journals, available grants and foundations. Among the event’s speakers were leaders in academia and industry, international scholars and CEOs of Solar Group, Gate42, Energy Systems, Wolfram Armenia, 4p1p. A special day was dedicated solely to Women in Optics to celebrate successful female scientists.
OSA, The Optical Society, is a professional association of individuals and companies with an interest in optics and photonics. It publishes journals, and organizes conferences and exhibitions. Its mission is to promote the generation, dissemination, and application of knowledge in optics and photonics.
