On February 22, the former Ambassador of Germany to Armenia, Mr. Hans-Jochen Schmidt delivered a public lecture Germany and the South Caucasus for the students of Russian-Armenian University (RAU). The event was organized by joint efforts of DAAD Armenia and RAU Institute of Law and Politics.

In an open and honest discussion Mr. Hans-Jochen Schmidt disclosed his views on diplomacy, international relations and globalization.
He elaborated on the past and ongoing conflicts in Europe and South Caucasus and the policies of the world powers toward them. He highlighted, “If we are interested in not being confronted with those kinds of situations, we have to contribute to the development of civil society”
The speaker also mentioned the need for the younger generation to step in when it comes to the world processes. He told the students, “You have social media - you should attract attention to matters important to you as citizens”
After the lecture, the students showered the former Ambassador with questions in a Q&A session.
