    Assignment Title:
    Individual Consultant with International Experience for assisting operation of the
    Center and implementation of Master’s program in Genetic Engineering, providing
    methodological training of faculty and students
    Reference No.: RAU-IC-1
     
    Russian-Armenian University (RAU) is implementing a grant project (hereinafter referred to as the Project) titled “Genetic engineering, genome editing and 3rd generation sequencing”, which is financed through the CIF implemented within the World Bank funded “Education Improvement Project”.
     
    The consulting services (“the Services”) include
    Assistance in operation of the Center 
    Assistance in implementation of Master program in Genetic Engineering
    Capacity building
     
    It is expected to hire an Individual Consultant for carrying out the above mentioned assignment. The following activities are to be carried out by the selected Consultant:
    Assistance in operation of the Center 
                Design a capacity building (equipment allocation, separation between laboratories, etc) training course on genome editing and sequencing for at least 20 persons (students and faculty members)
                Facilitate development of methodology for clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats (CRISPR) applications for single nucleotide manipulations
    Assistance in implementation of Master program in “Genetic Engineering”
                Development of content (syllabus) of 2 professional disciplines (“Genome engineering” (lectures) and “Practical course on genetic engineering”) for “Genetic engineering” Master program
                Proposing topics for Masters theses based on the infrastructure and resources of the Center
    Capacity building
                Provide trainings in basic and advanced GE techniques for students and faculty (at least 20 persons) using infrastructure, equipment, and resources of the center.
    The Contract period is anticipated within the June and July of 2021. The Consultant will accomplish visits to Armenia and will have both online (Stage 1) and hands-on (Stage 2) training days during the consultancy period. Stage 1 will be conducted through Zoom or RAU Google Meet while Stage 2 (hands-on training) is planned to be done at the RAU Center of Excellence on “Genetic engineering, genome editing and third generation sequencing”.
    Russian-Armenian (Slavonic) University now invites Consultants to indicate their interest in providing the Services. Interested Consultants should provide:
    - Letter of Interest
    - Detailed CV, including personal data, education, professional experience, work experience (copies of diplomas/certificates).
     
    The required qualifications are:
    General qualification
    - Higher education in Biology or related fields
    - Ph.D. degree in Biology or  related fields
    - Fluency in English (knowledge of Russian and Armenian will be asset) 

    General experience
    - Involvement in educational activities, by delivering/assisting lecture courses, supervising undergraduate or graduate or Ph.D. students or training in the relevant fields (at least 3 years)
    - Experience of oral presentations (conferences, schools, etc) and training courses (number of oral presentations and number of courses delivered)
    - Basic computer skills (MS Office)

    Special experience
    - At least 10 years of relevant research experience in the research institute or university.
    - At least 3 relevant publications in peer-reviewed journals indexed in Web of Science and Scopus databases or specialization in genome editing and CRISPR techniques.

    The attention of interested Consultants is drawn to paragraph 1.9 of the World Bank’s Guidelines: Selection and Employment of Consultants [under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits & Grants] by World Bank Borrowers [January 2011, revised July 2014] (“Consultant Guidelines”), setting forth the World Bank’s policy on conflict of interest.
