The Francophonie Days at Russian-Armenian University
Within the Francophonie Days in Armenia, Russian-Armenian University hosted several events celebrating the French language and culture.
RAU students in International Relations (Institute of Law and Politics) organized a discussion in the French language on New Forms of Diplomacy on March 26. The students presented their reports on issues and ways for development of contemporary diplomacy.
According to the event organizers, the discussion aimed at defining new forms of diplomacy in the world’s changing political system and determining different ways for their implementation. The participants discussed issues of public diplomacy, as well as its new forms, cultural, economic and scientific diplomacy, digital diplomacy, elaborated on the history of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia. In particular, the speakers addressed the challenges that the Armenian diplomacy faces today and  the prospects of implementation of the new forms of diplomacy as an effective tool to promote Armenia’s interests in the world. Colleagues from the French University of Armenia also joined the discussion.
On March 28, a concert of French music “La musique de l’amour” took place at RAU.
Students in Linguistics and International Relations presented glimpses of the French musical culture through the internationally recognized hits by Charles Aznavour, Lara Fabian, Celine Dion, Patricia Kaas, Indila and others.
The musical event was organized by Ms. Lilit Lobyan, a French language instructor at the Department of Theory of Language and Cross-Cultural Communication, Institute of Humanities at Russian-Armenian University. She mentioned that it was a pleasure to work with the students both on the event and in class throughout the years and wished the graduating students the best of luck in all their endeavors.
The International Francophonie Day is celebrated among the member states of the International Organization of La Francophonie on March 20 since 1988. Throughout the whole month, French language and culture admirers around the world join numerous events dedicated to the French culture.
