Research Conference 2019
On December 2-6, the XIV Annual Research Conference took place at Russian-Armenian University.
During the five working days, postgraduate students, researchers and academic staff presented over 300 research reports. The 13 sessions sparked the academic discussion in different areas: natural science and technology (mathematics, computer science, engineering science, physics, chemistry and biology); social sciences and humanities (philosophy, political science, history, oriental studies, economics, law, linguistics and philology, PR and communications and psychology).
The event gathered researchers and experts from various research centers, universities and state bodies from all over the region.
RAU Vice-Rector for Science, Professor Pargev Avetisyan, greeted the Conference guests and participants and gave a brief account of the university's achievements in research, highlighting that 2019 was replete with scientific events for the university.
RAU Rector Prof. Armen Darbinyan opened the plenary session with his research report “The Future in the Context of Armenia”.
He highlighted that putting ecology first is an inseparable part of humankind’s progress. Some of the challenges that Armenia faces, according to him, are environmental and commercial issues, as well as consolidation of the national potential. “Being civilized is not about humankind’s domination over nature, rather it is understanding the primacy of nature,” he said.
The second plenary report was delivered by Professor Aram Papoyan, lecturer at RAU Institute of Physics and Engineering, who elaborated on advances in optical magnetometry.
A special session on mathematics was dedicated to the memory of the renowned mathematician, Head of RAU Institute of Mathematics and Informatics late Professor Garnik Karapetyan.
The papers presented at the XIV Annual Research Conference will be published in the conference proceedings.
