RAU Professor Vahe Davtyan Presents Paper at International Symposium in China
The expert presented a paper entitled “Nuclear Energy in BRICS+: Geoeconomic Competition and Technological Sovereignty.”
Vahe Davtyan, Professor at the Department of Political Science of the Russian-Armenian University, participated in the International Symposium on Global South Development and Governance, held in Shenyang, China, on October 29. At this prestigious international event, the expert presented a paper entitled “Nuclear Energy in BRICS+: Geoeconomic Competition and Technological Sovereignty.”
In his presentation, Vahe Davtyan analyzed the role of nuclear energy as a key factor in ensuring the technological sovereignty of Global South countries amid the transformation of the world order and intensifying global competition for critical infrastructure.
“Today, nuclear energy is not just a matter of kilowatts. It is a matter of technological sovereignty. In a world where geoeconomic confrontation is increasingly shaped by control over infrastructure, BRICS+ countries have a unique opportunity to develop their own energy model, independent of external market conditions. Without this, sustainable growth is impossible,” he emphasized.
The large-scale forum brought together leading analysts and media representatives from dozens of countries to develop common approaches to reforms, innovation, and sustainable development in the Global South.
The symposium was organized by the Secretariat of the Global South Think Tanks Alliance, the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the CPC Liaoning Provincial Committee, and Liaoning University.
