RAU Hosts International Conference “SemioPolis: The Language of the City in the Space of Art”
The conference brought together scholars and researchers from Armenia, Russia, Hungary, China, and other countries for an interdisciplinary discussion of the city as a multilayered cultural phenomenon.
The opening ceremony of the International Scientific Conference “SemioPolis: The Language of the City in the Space of Art” took place at the Russian-Armenian University on October 13.
The conference brought together scholars and researchers from Armenia, Russia, Hungary, China, and other countries for an interdisciplinary discussion of the city as a multilayered cultural phenomenon. The participants focused on the semiotics of the urban environment, representations of the city in cinema, literature, and new media, as well as the role of art in interpreting urban space.
Following the opening ceremony and plenary session, thematic sessions are scheduled to take place. The conference program also includes a roundtable discussion entitled “The Semiosphere of the City: From the Classical Canon to AI Narratives and Public Art,” online sessions featuring international researchers, and a cultural program.
Following the conference, the papers presented will be recommended for publication in RAU’s peer-reviewed academic journals, Urbis et Orbis and Perspectiva Temporis.
The conference is organized within the framework of “FORUM GUMANITARIUM,” a joint scientific and educational project of the Russian-Armenian University (Institute of International Relations and Social and Political Sciences, Department of World History and Foreign Regional Studies) and Moscow City University (Institute of Humanities).
