International Conference on the Issues of Romano-Germanic Philology Launched at RAU

    RAU students prepared poetic, musical and dance performances specifically for the guests of the conference.

    On March 21, international scientific conference “Issues in Romano-GermanicPhilology. Theory and Methodology of Teaching Foreign Languages” was launched at RAU. Modern directions of linguistic research, traditions and innovations in teaching languages and cultures, linguistic picture of the world and interaction of cultures, literary studies, translation and text interpretation, current trends in applied linguistics are among the questions that will be addressed by the participants of the conference. 
     
    RAU Vice-Rector for Science, Professor Pargev Avetisyan welcomed guests and participants of the event and noted that this year the organizers undertook more fundamental preparation to raise the issues related to Romano-Germanic philology. 
     
    “I believe that this section of RAU is quite conceptual and significant. Traditional scientific  school on the issues of Romano-Germanic philology has been developed in Armenia, which is well-known not only in our country, but also abroad”, - he noted. 
     
    In his turn, RAU Vice-Rector for International Cooperation, Sergei Kaspinos, stressed the importance of conducting such meetings. 
     
    “In the modern world, the significance of teaching and learning foreign languages increases rapidly. Communication, cooperation, and interaction in the field of science, economy and many others without knowledge of foreign languages is virtually impossible”, - he concluded. 
     
    The guests and participants of the conference were also welcomed by Head of RAU Institute of Humanities Yervand Margaryan. In his words, RAU is a serious platform for the discussion of current tendencies of the field, generation of new ideas and elaboration of ways of development on the issues of Romano- Germanic philology.
     
    At the plenary session, Head of the Department of Theory of Language and Intercultural Communication, Professor Armine Simonyan delivered a report on “Linguocultural Peculiarities of Political Identity”, while Professor Karlen Matinyan spoke on the topic of “Translation Issues of Dialect Language in Prose Fiction.”
