On September 16, as part of the RAU Day celebrations, the RAU Museum held its grand opening. The red ribbon-cutting ceremony was attended by RAU Rector Edward Sandoyan, Minister Counselor of the Russian Embassy in Armenia Maxim Seleznev, and Deputy Head of the Russian House in Armenia (Rossotrudnichestvo) Victoria Deripasko.

 

A video presentation about the RAU Museum was shown to the guests, featuring the university’s rector, Edward Sandoyan, who discussed the history of the university and the process of establishing the museum.

 

“The first section of our narrative focuses on the university’s early years, from 1997 to 2001. This section features numerous photos documenting the university’s formation and growth. Over the years, we have welcomed many distinguished guests, including prominent cultural, scientific, and sports figures from both the Russian Federation and the Republic of Armenia, some of whom are now part of our archive, symbolising mutual friendship and cooperation.

 

It is worth noting that some of the photos highlight the process of the construction of the university, particularly the building of the sports complex, which is now well-equipped to serve the students. We are aware that many generations of students had long dreamed of establishing a proper sports facility, and, finally, after years of anticipation, our swimming pool has opened its doors.

 

We have collected a great deal of interesting materials, as each photo has a unique story behind it. While we regret that much of what we had cannot be recovered, we take pride in preserving the memories of our past and remain hopeful for a bright future,” stated Professor Sandoyan.

 

The museum features interesting exhibits, including the university management’s first computer and telephone, the RAU flag that has made its way to Mount Ararat, the chair of the first rector, and other significant artefacts.
