On January 15, 2025, Arusyak Hovhannisyan, PhD, delivered an engaging lecture titled "Ancient Chinese Thought: Myths and Reality about Confucianism" at the Center of Chinese Language and Culture at the Russian-Armenian University (RAU).
The lecture offered a deep dive into the origins of Ruist (Confucian) thought, illuminating the historical context of its development and the influential role of Confucius in shaping its philosophy. The lecturer guided the audience through the Four Books and Five Classics, the cornerstone texts of Confucianism, which continue to shape Chinese cultural and intellectual traditions.
An important highlight of the lecture was the discussion on the modern practical implications of ancient Ruist thought, demonstrating its relevance in contemporary life. Drawing from her experience as a Sinological Development Charitable Foundation (SDCF) scholar, Arusyak shared insights from her participation in the SDCF summer program in 2024, where she studied Chinese philosophy in depth and applied its principles to real-life business cases in Hong Kong.
