Professor Armen Darbinyan elected foreign member of Russian Academy of Sciences

    The decision was made at the General Meeting of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) on June 1.

    Rector of the Russian-Armenian University, Professor Armen Darbinyan was elected a foreign member of the Russian Academy of Sciences in the Department of Global Issues and International Relations (direction Global Economy). The decision was made at the General Meeting of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) on June 1.

    Election of new members of RAS will be held in Moscow from June 1 to 3. The RAS General Meeting will name new full members and associate members. This is the first election since 2019. The competition is anticipated to be nothing short of intense: 4 people per 1 seat for academics, and 8 people per 1 seat for corresponding members. The renewed staff of the Academy will elect the Academy president in September 2022. Now it is headed by Alexander Sergeyev who was elected in 2017. 

    It should be noted that prominent foreign scientists recognized by the global scientific community can be elected as foreign members of RAS. Foreign members are elected by the General Meeting of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
