RAU Hosts the “Teachers of Victory” Patriotic Initiative

The project brought together more than 5,000 high school students from Russia and other countries, including Armenia, Argentina, Belarus, and the Republic of the Congo.

This year, the Russian-Armenian University once again hosted the international “Teachers of Victory” initiative. On November 5, Ivan Alexandrovsky, Adviser to the RAU Rector’s Office, conducted a lesson for students of the Usmunk School.

The project brought together more than 5,000 high school students from Russia and other countries, including Armenia, Argentina, Belarus, and the Republic of the Congo.

During the lesson, students learned about the courage of teachers during the Great Patriotic War. They explored the story of Nikolai Kyung, who established an underground school for children at Buchenwald concentration camp in 1944 and took part in the uprising of April 11, 1945, which saved more than 21,000 lives. They also learned about the teachers and cartographers who created the “Victory Map” of besieged Leningrad in 1943, continuing their work despite famine, cold, and shelling.

Addressing the participants, Ivan Alexandrovsky emphasized the importance of preserving traditions and maintaining continuity between generations.
