The role of the UN in a changing world will be discussed at RAU
On November 25 at 1:00 PM, a scientific seminar titled “The UN at a Watershed: Existential Crisis or an Era of New Opportunities?” will be held in the Auditorium named after Orbeli (VII floor, RAU New building).
Speaker: Mr. Karen Daduryan, an international diplomat with 25 years of experience at the UN, and Senior lecturer in the Department of World Politics and International Relations RAU.
The lecture will focus on the role of the UN in a changing world, where the system of global governance and international security faces serious challenges in the era of transition to a polycentric world order.
On it’s 80th anniversary, the UN must answer a fundamental question: can the organization reform itself to meet the demands of the 21st century and continue its unique mission of “saving succeeding generations from the scourge of war” or will it suffer the same fate as the failed League of Nations?”.
The lecture will be delivered in English, and will be followed by a discussion on this topic.
The event is organized by the Department of World Politics and International Relations of the Institute of International Relations and Socio-Political Sciences.
