Charles Aznavour's Songs Performed at RAU

The event program included not only musical numbers, but also dance performances.

A concert dedicated to the great French chansonnier of Armenian origin Charles Aznavour was held at the Russian-Armenian University on March 13. The event included not only musical, but also dance performances.

The attendees heard Aznavour's famous compositions in different languages: French, English, German, Russian and Armenian. Many of the participants admitted that preparing for the concert helped them not only improve their knowledge of languages, but also feel the meaning of the artist's songs more deeply.

"Charles Aznavour is the greatest treasure of the entire mankind. As the author of thousands of poems and many songs, he became close and touched the hearts of people of various nationalities, countries and continents. However, at the same time, Aznavour is our compatriot, and this is a source of great pride for the Armenian people," said Armine Simonyan, RAU Head of the Department of Theory of Language and Intercultural Communication.

She also emphasized that any event of the department is a kind of open lesson: "Students majoring in linguistics are incredibly creative. They love to perform, dance, and immerse themselves in the culture of different peoples. In this case, we are talking about French culture, but Aznavour's songs are performed in many languages: French, English, German, Russian, and Armenian. We tried to reflect this entire linguistic palette, to show its beauty and versatility."

It should be noted that the event was organized by the Department of Language Theory and Intercultural Communication of the Institute of Philology and Intercultural Communication of the Russian-Armenian University.
