A meeting with contemporary Iranian writer Morteza Barzegar, one of the distinctive voices of modern Persian prose, was held at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian-Armenian University on September 4.
During the meeting, Barzegar spoke about his literary work and the main themes of contemporary Iranian literature. His writing explores human relationships, memory, loss, loneliness, love, and inner conflicts, combining psychological depth with irony and dark humor.
A significant part of the discussion focused on the development of informal literary education in Iran — from small reading and discussion groups to writing workshops and modern online communities. Barzegar highlighted the value of preserving the strengths of each format, including attentive reading, constructive criticism, collaborative editing, and the development of literary culture.
