From creativity to law: why content protection is important for creative industries

The manual analyses court cases on intellectual property law in the Republic of Armenia, with advice from the author on how to protect and defend intellectual rights.

Ani Davtyan, a lecturer and co-researcher at the Department of Civil Law and Civil Procedure Law of the Russian-Armenian University, has published a manual entitled "Intellectual Property Law in the Creative Industry."

It analyses court cases on intellectual property law of the Republic of Armenia, with advice from the author on protecting and defending intellectual rights.

"The guide is aimed at representatives of creative industries, but it will be useful also for students of Law. The idea for the book came from working with authors and co-operation with AGBU. Many authors often do not know what actions should be taken to protect intellectual property rights," Ani Davtyan emphasised and added that she would donate two copies of the manual to the RAU library.

The author has shared some tips for creators: "You need to escrow your work when creating; don't talk about your ideas before they are realised. It's also important to carefully read the contracts you sign."

It should be noted that the guide was published with the support of AGBU, Artnexus, Creative Armenia, Katapult, and the European Union.
