RAU Team Takes Second Place in Armenia’s First Moot Court on the Crime of Genocide

    The competition was held in the format of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) and brought together 7 teams from different universities across Armenia.

    On June 21–22, 2025, Armenia hosted its first-ever moot court competition dedicated to the crime of genocide, organized by the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute and the Armenian International Law Association (AILA).

    The competition was held in the format of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) and brought together 7 teams from different universities across Armenia. The moot court was judged by 16 experts, including practicing lawyers, international law specialists, and university professors.

    In the final round, the French University in Armenia (UFAR) and the Russian-Armenian University (RAU) faced each other.

    The RAU team consisted of: Eduard Chakhmakhchyan (3rd year, Russian sector), Anna Yeritsian (3rd year, Russian sector), Narek Balyan (3rd year, Armenian sector), Rafaela Kikoyan (2nd year, Armenian sector).

    Narek Balyan was awarded the Best Speaker prize of the competition.

    Both finalist teams received valuable books on the Armenian Genocide, and all members were granted a one-year free associate membership in AILA.
