According to the results of the prestigious world ranking UI GreenMetric World University 2023, the Russian-Armenian University became part of green universities of the world for the first time ranking first among all universities in Armenia.

This year’s rating includes 1183 universities from around the world. The purpose of this rating is to assess the environmental policy of universities and efforts to implement programs aimed at it.

The evaluation of university activities is carried out according to six indicators: comfortable campus infrastructure, use of energy-efficient and water-saving technologies on campus, university waste management and water conservation policies, convenient campus transportation routes that reduce emissions of carbon dioxide and harmful particles, and environmental education in university educational programs.

It should be noted that the rating agency UI GreenMetric World University Rankings was established on the initiative of the University of Indonesia in 2010.

In general, the rating uses the concept of environmental sustainability, which includes three elements: environmental, economic and social.

The environmental aspect implies the use of natural resources, environmental management and pollution prevention, while the economic one implies cost savings and profit. The social dimension includes education, community and social inclusion.

To participate in the rating, universities need to provide not only quantitative data about their university, but also to confirm this information with a link to regulatory documents, scans of orders, news from the media, photos, etc.
