The Russian-Armenian University Will Be Presenting Armenia in Jean-Pictet Competition in Turkey
The competition is one of the most prestigious events for law students specializing in international humanitarian law.
The RAU team has successfully passed the selection stage and will participate in the in-person round of the 45th Jean-Pictet International Competition (Anglophone session), taking place in Antalya, Turkey, from February 8 to February 15, 2025.
The team members are Kristina Avetisyan, Ani Jragatspanyan and Anna Yeritsyan. The team’s coach is Narek Abgaryan, a lecturer at the Chair of International and European Law of the Institute of Law RAU.
The Jean-Pictet Competition is a renowned educational platform that simulates a fictional armed conflict scenario. Participants must adapt to evolving situations, analyze legal challenges, and act as representatives of various entities such as the International Committee of the Red Cross, UN bodies, or legal advisors to conflicting parties.
The competition is one of the most prestigious events for law students specializing in international humanitarian law, with participants from leading universities worldwide. It offers an exceptional opportunity to delve into practical aspects of law and enhance problem-solving skills in a dynamic, competitive environment.
The competition, held annually since 1989, is named after Swiss lawyer and humanitarian Jean Pictet (1914–2002), former Vice President of the ICRC and co-author of the 1949 Geneva Conventions and their 1977 Additional Protocols.
