RAU Students Represent Armenia at the Jessup–2026 Final Round in Washington
Philip C. Jessup Competition is the world’s largest student competition in international law.
Law students from the Russian-Armenian University represented Armenia at the final stage of the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition (Jessup–2026), held in Washington, bringing together leading law schools from around the world.
It should be noted that the RAU team is traditionally among the strongest participants in the national round: over the past four years, the university’s students have won the national round three times, confirming a high level of training and consistent academic performance.
The Director of the RAU Institute of Law, Marianna Kalashyan, noted that the university’s law school demonstrates a consistently high level of student preparation, supported by a strong faculty and a systematic educational approach aimed at developing future lawyers’ professional competencies.
Team coach and PhD student Mikael Arshakyan emphasized that achieving such results also requires systematic and long-term work. “The team prepares for months, working almost on a daily basis, focusing on both written memorials and oral pleadings. A strong tradition of participation in Jessup has been established at RAU, and the standards we set for ourselves are always high,” he said.
The Russian-Armenian University team was represented by first-year master’s students David Mlkeyan and Alex Mkrtchyan, as well as fourth-year students Kristina Avetisyan and Milena Gevorgyan.
It should be noted that the Philip C. Jessup Competition is the world’s largest student competition in international law, where participants simulate proceedings before the International Court of Justice.
