RAU and The University of Nottingham set a new vector for collaboration

Monica White, assistant professor of Russian and Slavic Studies of the Faculty of Arts at the University of Nottingham (Great Britain) visited RAU.

Head of the Department of Russian Language and Professional Communication of the Institute for Human Sciences at Russian-Armenian University and the Chair of the Centre of Russian Studies Karen Akopyan held a meeting with the assistant professor of Russian and Slavic Studies of the Faculty of Arts at the University of Nottingham (Great Britain) Monica White on September 14. The parties discussed issues of teaching Russian as a foreign language and the opportunity for the students of the University of Nottingham to visit RAU in order to improve and deepen the knowledge of the Russian Language.

Monica White has pointed out the importance of concluding an agreement on collaboration between Russian-Armenian University and the University of Nottingham concerning Russian language training for students from Great Britain.

“On September 15, Monica White gladly joined the events devoted to the celebration of the RAU day: she was present at sports and recreational activities and at the solemn meeting in the Thanksgiving Park where the ceremony of RAU students’ and professors’ awarding and honouring for outstanding academic, teaching, scientific as well as sports achievements was held. Moreover, the guest gave an interview to freshmen in which she highlighted the high level of technical equipment of the new building of the university and emphasised the benefit of RAU’s compactness enabling it to run all classes in one place which undoubtedly fosters the process of education. To compare, there are 40,000 students at the University of Nottingham and the commuting from one end to another takes up to 30 minutes!” - says Karen Akopyan.

Since this was Monica White’s first visit to Armenia, the member of the Department of Russian Language and Professional Communication organised an excursion for the guest to the Mesrop Mashtots Institute of Ancient Manuscripts of Matenadaran to dive into the history of Armenia hospitably and gracefully as well as have an experience of a lifetime.
