RAU hosted a scientific event dedicated to the Independence Day of Armenia

The event was organized by RAU Institute of Law and Politics.

On September 21, Russian-Armenian University hosted yet another scientific event dedicated to the Independence Day of Armenia. The event was organized by RAU Institute of Law and Politics.

The opening speech was delivered by head of the Department of Theory of Law and Constitutional Law, J.D., Professor Arthur Gambaryan (Ghambaryan). The attendees honored the memory of all the fallen with a moment of silence.

“Today is a very tough day for the Armenian nation, Armenia as a whole and Artsakh. We have a lot of victims”, — mentioned the professor.

He noted that there were doubts up to the last moment, whether or not to hold the event, yet it took place precisely at the request and desire of the students. The scientist also emphasized that the event was becoming a tradition and was held for the fourth year in a row. And today, in this moment of destiny, it is crucial for the students to be reasonable and initiative-taking, *since now they are to some extent responsible for the republic, as well as for the independence of the Armenian nation.

RAU Head of Department of Political Science, PhD, Associate Professor Hovhannes Sargsyan also gave a speech. He addressed the issue of Artsakh, and the way it could have an impact on the independence of Armenia. The scientist reminded the students that independence is a value, and not just a term. It is an ongoing process of nation-building.

“I think the idea of independence should be knowledge, which people should have and develop,” — said Hovhannes Sargsyan.

State figure Aram Manukyan also made a speech at the event, reading out the text of the Declaration of Independence for the first time. He encouraged the attendees to keep their spirits high and to look further ahead.

After the speeches, the students asked burning questions. The event was concluded with the screening of the movie “DECLARATION”, dedicated to independence at RAU Hall of Culture.
