RAU Co-organized Chemistry in Armenia Conference

    The large-scale conference Chemistry in Armenia was dedicated to the 15th anniversary of the Scientific Technological Center of Organic and Pharmaceutical Chemistry of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia.

    The large-scale conference Chemistry in Armenia dedicated to the 15th anniversary of the Scientific Technological Center of Organic and Pharmaceutical Chemistry of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia was held in Yerevan from October 24 to 28. The conference was co-organized by the Russian-Armenian University, in particular, Head of the Department of General and Pharmaceutical Chemistry Anna Grigoryan, Professor of the Department Gevorg Danagulyan and Head of the Laboratory of Structural Bioinformatics of the RAU Institute of Biomedicine and Pharmacy Lernik Hunanyan.

    The opening of the conference was held at the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia, with Professor Gevorg Danagulyan delivering a report entitled Non-trivial Synthesis of Biologically Active Systems with Trivial Interaction of Nucleophiles with Azines. The second day of the conference was held at the Russian-Armenian University bringing together such leading experts and scientists of the field as Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Professor V. Ananikov, L. Hunanyan (RAU), A. Harutyunyan (Scientific Technological Center of Organic and Pharmaceutical Chemistry of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia), among others.

    On October 25, the delegation of Zelinsky Institute of Organic Chemistry also met the Rector of RAU Professor Armen Darbinyan, and Vice-Rector for Science Professor Pargev Avetisyan. The parties discussed joint cooperation between RAU and Zelinsky Institute of Organic Chemistry outlining ways for scientific collaboration. Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Valentin Ananikov, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences Professor Alexander Terentyev, Professor Evgeny Tretyakov and Professor Sergey Vatsadze were among the delegates.

    "The delegation stated that the organization of the conference at the RAU was held at the highest level, very actively and well. Scientific results were presented by accomplished scientists as well as young specialists, postgraduate students and students of Master's and Bachelor's degrees. The annual format of this conference was proposed to strengthen scientific contacts and cooperation between organizations," mentioned Lernik Hunanyan.

    On October 26, the conference continued at the Scientific Technological Center of Organic and Pharmaceutical Chemistry of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia, with Anna Grigoryan delivering a report.

    It should be noted that the Chemistry in Armenia conference was divided into five sections: Physico-chemical Foundations of New Technologies; Modern Digital Technologies in Biology, Medicine and Chemistry; Heterocyclic Chemistry and Drug Design; Organic Synthesis and its Relevant Applications; Supramolecular Chemistry and Medical Chemistry.
