The team of chess players of RAU won silver on the Inter-University Championship of Armenia

    The team was trained by a grandmaster Nelly Aginyan.

    The team of Russian-Armenian University participated in the Inter-University Championship of Armenia and took the second place among all universities of the country.

    RAU was presented by following students: Anna Khachatryan (Institution of Media, Advertisement, and Cinema), Syuzanna Safrazyan (Institution of Law and Politics), Edgar Brutyan (Institution of Mathematics and Informatics), Vitaliy Balayan (Institution of Mathematics and Informatics), David Sahakyan (Institution of Law and Politics), Eduard Grigoryan (Institute of Engineering and Physics). The team was trained by a grandmaster Nelly Aginyan.

    “The tournament took place in a quite interesting format: last year sportsmen competed in blitz, this year speed chess was also organized. Alike last year, I took the third place in an individual competition, and as a result of group competition among girls RAU team took second place. The first place was taken by the team of the State Institute of Physical Culture and Sports of Armenia, which included a grandmaster; a member of the country's women's chess team, Anna Khachatryan shared. “As for preparation, we train regularly, preparing for tournaments with Nelly Aginyan”.
     
    It should be noted that according to the results of the Club Amateur Chess Championship of Armenia, the RAU team also became the vice-champion, losing the palm to the team of professional chess players. The tournament took place on March 19 at the Chess Academy of Armenia.  The championship brought together 30 clubs from Yerevan and the regions - chess players with a national or international rating below 2100.
