RAU Day 2023!
RAU Rector, Professor Edward Sandoyan: “This year the Russian-Armenian University accepted over a thousand first-year students, this is a historical maximum, a record that proves the relevance of RAU in the educational space.”
The celebration of the Day of the Russian-Armenian University took place on September 15. The series of events began with a ceremony of laying flowers at the memorial plaque in honor of the first rector of RAU, academician Levon Mkrtchyan and the memorial in memory of the students who heroically died defending the Motherland. The ceremony was attended by representatives of the RAU leadership, teaching staff and administration, as well as students.
The rector, Doctor of Economic Sciences of the Republic of Armenia and the Russian Federation, Professor Edward Sandoyan congratulated all those who were present on that holiday.
“This year, the Russian-Armenian University accepted over a thousand first-year students, this is a historical maximum, a record that proves the relevance of RAU in the educational space. I would like to thank our professors, students, who are bearers of two great cultures. We have the best teaching staff, the leaders of all directions sciences, who we are thankful for their high results, and today we will separately honor some of them,” the rector noted.
He emphasized that today RAU Day is celebrated for the 26th time, and this is a tradition that helps maintain the university spirit of unity and consolidation from year to year.
Attaché of the Russian Embassy in Armenia, Denis Nazarov, also congratulated students, professors and guests on RAU Day: “Russia is proud that there is such a project that helps train excellent specialists in Armenia. Being a graduate of RAU, I also know that this university is strong and ready to further continue to develop personnel both in Russia and in Armenia. Happy holiday!"
According to the annual tradition, as a part of the celebration of the Day of the Russian-Armenian University, a festive ceremony was held to award honorary awards and RAU medals.

By a resolution of the Academic Council of the Russian-Armenian University, Andrey Ivanovich Rudskoy, Rector of St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, was elected Honorary Doctor of the RAU.
The gold medal of the Russian-Armenian University was awarded to Dmitry Germanovich Arsenyev - Vice-Rector for International Activities of St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
Nikita Mikhailovich Golovin, Director of the International Academic Competence Center "Polytechnic-SAP", Candidate of Technical Sciences, became an Honorary Knight of the "Club of Friends of RAU".
It should be noted that the Day of the Russian-Armenian University, by tradition, has also become a real holiday of sports, where students showed maximum skill and passion for competition. So, in football competitions, the RAU team was divided into two teams - red and purple. The red team won a convincing victory with a score of 7:2. The boys demonstrated professional team spirit.
The tug-of-war competition was no less exciting, where the team from the Engineering Physics Institute showed maximum strength and endurance, becoming the winner.
In the tennis tournament, the winner title was won by Elen Hayrapetyan, a student of the Institute of Economics and Business. Her skill and talent were beyond competition. And in the arm wrestling competition, three students showed incredible skill. The first among them was Narek Ghazaryan (“Applied Mathematics”), winning the 65-75 kg category. Lyova Manvelyan (“Journalism”) won gold in the 75-85 kg category. Another winner, already in the 85-95 kg weight category, is Armen Badiryan (“Jurisprudence”).
