Publications of finalists of Marr International Competition on Armenology were presented at RAU

Lusine Gushyan, Hayk Hakobyan and Alexander Hakobyan became the winners of Academician Nikolai Marr International Competition.

Presentation of volumes of the winners of the International Competition dedicated to  Academician N.Marr was delivered at Russian-Armenian University with the assistance of the Russian House in Armenia (Representative Office of Rossotrudnichestvo in Armenia) on October 5.

“It is crucial to develop Armenology in the Russian language. It gives impulses for the development of this area in the Republic itself. Thanks to the Marr Competition, we kindle the interest of researchers towards international and scientific discoveries. I would like to express my sincere gratitude towards the administration of  Rossotrudnichestvo for the dedicated participation as well as the committed approach to this project”, - noted Garnik Asatryan, RAU Head of the Institute of Oriental Studies.

According to Victoria Deripasko, Vice Head of the Representative Office of Russian Cooperation in Armenia, the contest resulted in two excellent and substantial monographs.

“Our year-long interesting journey begins with a small step. We are by all means trying to popularize the contest and attract more young and experienced scientists to participate. And with the assistance of such an esteemed university and administration, the project will come out in a completely different light”, - highlighted Victoria Deripasko.

The winners of the Academician Nikolai Marr International Competition were Lusine Gushyan and Hayk Hakobyan with the joint paper “St. Petersburg Armenology on Archival Materials of the 20th Century”, and Alexander Hakobyan with the paper“Numismatics of Eastern Armenia”.

“This competition is a crucial initiative: it allows presenting relevant Armenological development conducted in different countries of the world to the academic community of Armenia. I strongly hope that the competition will have a continuous nature, and the publishing series will largely contribute  to modern Armenology,” - shared Alexander Hakobyan.

Let us mention that the Russian House in Armenia and Russian-Armenian University Institute of Oriental Studies have launched the Academician Nikolai Marr International Scientific Competition on Armenology back in July 2021. Researchers living beyond the borders of Armenia who submitted authentic scientific works in Russian language, either in manuscript or published over the last 3 years, could participate in the competition. The winners of the competition were selected by closed peer review.
