The conference “Culture-oriented linguistics: motherland through the eyes of a student” gained students from 9 countries of the world

    Students made interesting reports and presentations on geography, history, religion, literature, folklore, painting, cultural and architectural landmarks, national customs and traditions of their countries, as well as on philology and the theory and practice of translation.

    Having become a traditional IV International student online-conference “Culture-oriented linguistics: motherland through the eyes of a student” took place on April 1. The conference was organized by the Department of the Russian Language and Professional Communication of Russian-Armenian University in partnership with the Engineering Academy of Russian University of Friendship of Peoples and the Centre of Russian Research of Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi.
     
    The main aim of the conference was giving opportunity to foreign students to communicate in Russian-in a full accordance to its international status- for setting intercultural interaction.
     
    “In accordance to the aim we tried to solve a row of key task, namely: establishing friendly relationship between students from Armenia, Russia, India, countries of near and far abroad- by the participants of the conference, getting acquainted and introduced to the culture, traditions, and customs of the countries- participants, training foreign students skills of public speech with messages and reports in Russian”, - shared the Head of the Department of the Russian Language and Professional communication of RAU Karen Hakobyan.
     
    A total of 50 people became participants in the online project: 29 students and 21 teachers (supervisor) from 9 countries: Armenia, Russia, India, Egypt, Mozambique, Vietnam, Sao Tome and Principe, Sudan and Syria. The Russian-Armenian University was represented by 12 students of the Institute of Humanities, the Institute of Law and Politics and the Institute of Media, Advertising and Cinema. Students made interesting reports and presentations on geography, history, religion, literature, folklore, painting, cultural and architectural landmarks, national customs and traditions of their countries, as well as on philology and the theory and practice of translation.
     
    It should be noted that following the results of the IV International Student Online Conference “Culture-oriented linguistics: motherland through the eyes of a student”, all reports of the participants will be published in the collection of conference materials, and certificates will be awarded to participants.
