    Students from RAU as well as Yerevan State University and French University in Armenia took part in the event.

    Russian-Armenian University hosted the Model UN, organized by the Committee of Young Internationalists together with RAU Department of World Politics and International Relations. The topic of the model was the possible conflict in West Africa between the Sahel Alliance and ECOWAS.

    Students from RAU as well as Yerevan State University and French University in Armenia took part in the event.

    Paruyr Sargsyan, International Relations third-year student, underlined the importance of the role game.

    “The primary reason for the organization of the event is to develop professional diplomatic skills among students. These include public speech, production of correct argumentation, negotiation skills as well as critical thinking. The second reason is to incorporate the model UN into our university, and the third reason is to build up a network among our students. This time students from other universities took part in our model simulation”, - he shared.

    According to Parur Sargsyan, this event creates an environment for the generation of new ideas and concepts among young researchers and future diplomats who view problems from different angles.

    At the end of the event, the participants agreed on a resolution to be a possible way of settlement of the conflict. Based on the results of the Model UN, certificates were issued to participants, and prizes were awarded:
    1st place - Marietta Mkrtchyan;
    2nd place - Milena Khachatryan;
    3rd place - Tigran Givargizyan.
