The Olympiad in school mathematics after Professor Garnik Karapetyan took place in Russian-Armenian University on March 6. Each year the number of participants rises: this year the Olympiad gathered more than 90 Armenian schools of senior classes.
Following the results of the Olympiad, I place is taken by Areg Mkrtchyan (Physics and Mathematics school after A. Shahinyan, 10th grade), II place- Hovhannes Hakobyan (Physics and Mathematics school after A.Shahinyan, 12th grade), III place- Ashot karapetyan (“Photon” gymnasium, 11th grade). Certificates are given to Hayk Agayan (“Quantum” gymnasium), Hayk Tumanyan (Physics and Mathematics school after Shahinyan), Hamlet Petrosyan (“Quantum” gymnasium), Mikael Ghazaryan (Physics and Mathematics school after A.Shahinyan), Vahan Agekyan (Physics and Mathematics school after A.Shahinyan), Sergey Nersesyan (Physics and Mathematics school after A.Shahinyan), Vahagn Harutyunyan (“Photon” gymnasium), Adelina Mikaelyan (Physics and Mathematics school after A.Shahinyan), Razmik Parzyan (“Quantum” gymnasium), and Narek Frndzhyan (“Photon” gymnasium). Winners of the Olympiad will receive a preferential right during RAU application on the faculty of “Applied Mathematics and Informatics”.
According to the head of the Department of Mathematics and Mathematical Modeling of RAU Armen Darbinyan, in contrast to the typical book examples and exercises, the “Olympiad” tasks do not have a common algorithm of solution: each task is unique and requires appliance of new ideas for solution.
During the ceremony of presenting certificates and memorable gifts to the winners of the Olympiad on March 25, a discussion of task solutions took place at the RAU.
