Psychiatrist Elena Davtyan Gave a Lecture at RAU

The topic was relevant not only for RAU students and professors, but also for the professional audience: "Emotions as a lingual-cultural construct: deconstruction of emotions in the case of mental pathology."

On February 15, PhD in Medical Sciences, psychiatrist and clinician with 25 years of experience, Associate professor of the Department of Clinical Psychology and Psychological Assistance of the Herzen State Pedagogical University of Russia (St. Petersburg) Elena Davtyan gave a lecture at RAU. The topic was relevant not only for RAU students and professors, but also for the  professional audience: "Emotions as a lingual-cultural construct: deconstruction of emotions in the case of mental pathology."
The psychiatrist talked about the works of prominent cognitive linguists and the history of words signifying emotions in the Russian language.

She explained whether words signifying emotions are a "label" put on emotional (feelings) experiences that exist independently of words, or the very fact of naming contributes to the creation of emotions.

Based on the examples of patients' statements, the specialist clearly showed how, in the case of endogenous depressions, emotional concepts return to their ancient (corporeal) roots.

Everyone interested was also offered to study the topic in depth, of course, under the guidance of professionals.

“This frequency allows us to talk about the sessions of professional classes at RAU platforms in general. This form of conducting open interactive lectures is an extremely important process for personal and professional development at the university.

In this case, RAU acts as a self-declared open laboratory, a platform for the exchange of experience, knowledge, and productive interaction of specialists from different countries. The exchange of experience and opinions of specialists from Russia and Armenia of various professions will help to improve the basic academic knowledge of students. At the same time, public lectures help boost the cooperation between universities of different countries, an integral part of students' self-education and a necessary condition for the growth of their creative potential. This format of training and academic mobility, actively used in the modern academic circles, is presented as one of the many opportunities for productive Russian-Armenian cooperation.”

It should be noted that the meeting with Elena Davtyan was organized by the Chair of Psychology of RAU Institute of Humanities, led by Head of the Chair Asya Berberyan.
