The role of the UN in a changing world discussed at RAU
During the seminar, Mr. Daduryan explored the challenges facing the system of global governance and international security amid the transition to a polycentric world order.
On November 25, a scientific seminar titled “The UN at a Watershed: Existential Crisis or an Era of New Opportunities?” was held at RAU. The speaker, Mr. Karen Daduryan, an international diplomat with 25 years of experience at the UN and Senior Lecturer in the Department of World Politics and International Relations at RAU, delivered an in-depth lecture on the UN’s role in a rapidly changing world.
During the seminar, Mr. Daduryan explored the challenges facing the system of global governance and international security amid the transition to a polycentric world order.
Special attention was given to the UN’s upcoming 80th anniversary and the organization’s ability to respond to a key question: Can the UN reform itself to meet the demands of the 21st century and continue its mission of “saving succeeding generations from the scourge of war,” or risk repeating the fate of the League of Nations?
The event was organized by the Department of World Politics and International Relations of the Institute of International Relations and Socio-Political Sciences.
