First release of the scientific journal on urbanism "Urbis et Orbis" published

    The journal was established by Russian-Armenian University and Yaroslav the Wise Novgorod State University.

    The first release of the scientific journal "Urbis et Orbis. Microhistory and semiotics of the city" was published. The journal was established in 2021 by Russian-Armenian University and Yaroslav the Wise Novgorod State University (Veliky Novgorod, Russia).

    Chief editor of the journal "Urbis et Orbis. Microhistory and Semiotics of the city" is the head of the Department of World History and Foreign Regional Studies of the Institute of Humanities of the RAU, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Yervand Margaryan. The co-editors are Ph.D., Professor, Head of the Department of Theology, Yaroslav the Wise Novgorod State University Sergey Avanesov and PhD, Professor of the Department of Foreign Literature of Yerevan State University Tigran Simyan.

    The journal is dedicated to the discussion of theoretical problems related to urban space, cities in literary texts, as well as visual-semiotic and microhistoric studies. "Urbis et Orbis" provides an opportunity for independent, critical and reflective discussion in line with the current interest in urban studies, anthropology and macrosociology of the city, the role of visual images in various discourses of the humanities and social sciences. The journal is published twice per year.

    The publication accepts interdisciplinary studies of the city and urban space in a broad cultural and anthropological context, primarily in the field of connotative semiotics and integral (verbal-transverbal) analytics.
