On April 14 at 11:00 in room Pyotrovskyi, Ara Chalabyan, Chairman of the Audit Committee and Member of the Board of Araratbank, will deliver an open lecture on the topic “Corporate Governance and Audit.”

Ara Chalabyan has more than 25 years of professional experience in the Central Bank, financial services, trade, and the extractive industry. He worked at the Central Bank of Armenia for 18 years, where his last position was Director of Corporate Services and Development, responsible for HR, finance, technology, security, procurement, project management, and more. From 2010 to 2020, he served as Chief Auditor of the Central Bank. From 2013 to 2021 and again since 2023, he has been heading the Armenian chapter of The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA Armenia).

Language of the lecture – Armenian.

key issues of corporate governance and audit will be discussed, including the essence and importance of audit in modern organizations, as well as the role and functions of the audit committee. Special attention will be given to the differences between external and internal audit, modern internal audit standards (GIAS), and professional qualification requirements. Additionally, the activities of IIA Armenia and The Institute of Internal Auditors Global will be presented, highlighting their role in developing the internal audit profession and implementing international standards.
