RAU representatives had reports at one of the most prestigious conferences on Oriental Studies

RAU was represented by Professor of the Institute of Oriental Studies Victoria Arakelova and graduate of the PhD studies of the Institute of Oriental Studies of RAU Gohar Hakobyan.

The delegation of the Russian-Armenian University took part in the 10th International Conference of the European Society of Iranologists (Societas Iranologica Europea), held at Leiden University (Netherlands) on August 21-25.

At this conference, Professor of the Institute of Oriental Studies of RAU Victoria Arakelova made a report called "The Talishis in Iran and Azerbaijan Republic: Identify Transformation in the Light of Nation-Building Policy", and graduate of the postgraduate school of Institute of Oriental Studies of RAU Gohar Hakobyan presented a report on the study of toponymy of Dersim.

The development of academic Iranian studies across all fields, such as linguistics, history, religious studies, ethnography among others, is the real aim of the European Society of Iranologists, established in 1983 in Rome.

Every four years, the Society of European Iranologists holds a conference at one of the most remarkable universities in Europe. These events are the most prestigious international Oriental studies venues, bringing together hundreds of scientists from different countries. For almost a quarter of a century, since 1999, Armenian Iranologists, Director of the Institute of Oriental Studies of RAU Garnik Asatryan and Professor of the Institute of Oriental Studies of RAU Victoria Arakelova,  have also been members of the society.

It should be noted that traditionally, within the framework of the international conference of the European Society of Iranologists, exhibitions of leading European publishers, such as Brill Publishers, Peeters, Edinburgh University Press, among others., are held.
