Team members emphasized that the Jean-Pictet Competition is not only an opportunity for students to demonstrate their skills but also an excellent platform for gaining new knowledge, expanding professional contacts, and establishing international connections. Participation in such competitions allows RAU students to compete with the best teams from various countries and continents. This year, the competition featured 46 teams from 29 countries.
The Jean-Pictet Competition, held annually since 1989, is one of the most prestigious in the field of international humanitarian law. Named after Swiss jurist Jean Pictet (1914–2002), Vice President of the ICRC and one of the authors of the 1949 Geneva Conventions and their 1977 Additional Protocols, the competition provides participants with a unique opportunity to develop practical knowledge and skills in rapid decision-making under challenging conditions, with only 1–2 hours to prepare for each round.
