RAU Law Institute Team Wins National Round of Jessup-2025 and Will Represent Armenia!

    This year’s case addressed jurisdiction, state immunity for enforced disappearances, universal jurisdiction, climate change-related maritime boundaries, and state property seizure.

    The RAU Law Institute team triumphed in the national round of the prestigious Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition 2025 held on February 8, 2025. The team, consisting of first-year Master’s students Diana Grigoryan, Mane Sargsyan and Alina Danielyan, demonstrated exceptional legal knowledge, advocacy skills and teamwork under the guidance of experienced mentors Shushanna Aleksanyan and Areg Malkhasyan.

    The team competed against the French University in Armenia and Yerevan State University, securing victory in the final round judged by renowned international law experts. Jessup is the world’s largest moot court competition, simulating proceedings at the International Court of Justice. This year’s case addressed jurisdiction, state immunity for enforced disappearances, universal jurisdiction, climate change-related maritime boundaries, and state property seizure.

    The team members highlighted the invaluable experience gained, from deepening their understanding of international law to enhancing critical thinking and public speaking skills.
