RAU launched a forum on fighting obesity

Forum participants will discuss global and local healthcare issues, obesity and excessive weight.

On September 18, an interdisciplinary forum on the topic of "Obesity: Complex Approach" was launched at Russian-Armenian University.

"Russian-Armenian University is always ready to host such important conferences, providing the experts with all the conditions for active discussions, aimed at solving the key problems in the field of healthcare", - emphasized RAU rector, PhD in Economics  of RA and RF, Professor Edward Sandoyan.

Guests and speakers of the forum will discuss global and local healthcare issues, obesity and overweight. Not only leading specialists from educational institutions, but also medical professionals, therapists, cardiologists, geneticists, pharmacists, and pharmacologists have been invited to the conference.

"Leading experts and specialists have gathered here, willing to discuss innovative methods of treatment and prevention of obesity, as well as to emphasize the importance of a complex approach to this global issue", - assured RAU vice-rector for International Cooperation Sergey Kapinos.

According to him, the interdisciplinary forum "Obesity: Complex Approach" will be a good platform for sharing knowledge and experience, and the discussions will help to develop more effective strategies of fighting obesity in various areas.

It should be noted that the forum is organized by the "MedProgress and Healthcare" foundation and RAU Department of General and Pharmaceutical Chemistry of the Institute of Biomedicine and Pharmacy. According to the organizers, the topic of obesity became particularly relevant after the coronavirus pandemic, when education moved to the online format and lifestyle became more passive; it led to obesity being a problem not only among adults, but also among adolescents.

"Surgery is developing rapidly in Armenia; we have been cooperating and interacting with Armenian colleagues. This cooperation among doctors enables us to effectively address the problem", - shared Yuri Yashkov, doctor, professor, president of the "Society of Bariatric Surgery".

Note that the forum will last for two days. The agenda can be found here >>
